I had one day in Washington D.C. when I went to get my Swedish passport renewed. I covered a lot of ground on a very hot summer day and ended up with this handful of shots.

Every year my brother-in-law’s neighborhood has a massive fireworks show in the middle of the neighborhood. It’s very up-close and personal so I decided to try my hand at capturing some of the displays.

Traveled to New York City in June with my wife (who was there on business). Did plenty of sightseeing and hit a good amount of the tourist spots. Great dining and so much fun to walk around and shoot at all hours of the day! We ended up getting our return flight cancelled and stayed an extra night in the retro TWA Airport Hotel which was a really cool time capsule with floor to ceiling views of the runways.

Visited Wheeler Wildlife Refuge in Decatur, AL for a couple of days to see the migrating Sandhill Cranes along with some other migratory birds and wildlife. First time trying out my new camera, Canon R7 and lens, RF 100-500 L.

While my son and daughter attended a Billie Eilish concert, I did a walk-about in downtown Nashville which can always lead to some interesting shots.

I participated with the GNPA (Georgia Nature Photographers Association) on a trip to the Smoky Mountains where they provide sessions that explore various parts of the Smokies with an experienced guide. It’s a great way to network and learn the right places and times to visit for optimal scenery and wildlife sightings. I particularly enjoyed seeing the Elk do their morning migration across a stream near the Oconaluftee Visitor Center.

I checked out the Roswell Riverwalk on a family outing and decided to return before sunrise on a Sunday morning. I walked up and down the same 1 mile stretch repeatedly and each time I discovered new creatures and new lighting scenarios.

In July of 2022 my son Jesse moved to Colorado and I offered to drive his van out there for him with his stuff. I took a few extra days to explore the states on the way and visited some great wildlife refuges and other areas on the way. Here’s some of the pics I captured along the way.
